1. App Updates iOS / Android

We have just released version 3.0 of the iOS and Android applications. This is a minor update to tidy up some of the screens now we have real data from associations to work with.

  1. Team names on matches screen / match detail screen now wrap nicely over 2 lines, rather than continue off scree.
  2. Dark mode in the HOCKIO app is now disabled if the user has their phone in dark mode. This caused contrasting colour issues with our design.
  3. Match Titles for finals etc were not displaying correctly, this is now displaying between the turf name and the time of the match
  4. Matches screen for showing the entire draw was not jumping to the next match date, users had to scroll from latest game to find their next game. This is now resolved and the matches screen jumps to the next match to avoid lots of scrolling.

2. Capturing Judicial Card Reports

We have enhanced the system further for umpires to be able to enter card reports after a match. If a match has a YELLOW or RED card issued during the match, once the match is completed we email and sms the umpire’s a new link. This link can be opened on PC or Mobile and shows each card issued to the player with the ability to select points for yellow and enter a report for both yellow and red.

If multiple cards are issued, then this screen is a wizard style, stepping through each card allowing information to be entered for each card until all are complete.

3. View other associations turf booking calendar

We have added the ability to have a turf in your association that could be managed by another association. An example of this is BOP Hockey where they do not have their own turfs but use Whakatane, Rotorua and Taupo turfs. Each of the sub-associations also use HOCKIO for their local turf bookings. With the new setup (we can talk you through it if required) BOP can see all of Whakatane, Rotorua and Taupos bookings when looking at their version of HOCKIO.

This solution allows the associations to see all bookings on that specific turf, if either made in the BOP instance of HOCKIO of the sub associations instance of HOCKIO. Further to this, competitions run in BOP instance, those matches are displayed in Whakatane’s calendar to be able to identify duplicate turf bookings.

4. Excel output and Email output options

Selected screens now have either an EXCEL output or EMAIL output or both option on the toolbar. The EXCEL output simply outputs the grid below contents to an EXCEL file for the user.

The email option will popup a box and allow the user to select who they want to email, for example if this is pressed on the Add Player to Team page, it will allow you to email EVERY player of that team by opening your mail client and automatically entering each players email address.

5. Invalid Until

On the “Add players to Team” page there is a new option for each player. This date can be set if the player has a judicial suspension or medial suspension. This will show the player on the daily match cards but not allow the player to be picked until after the date shown. This is a great way to lock players from being selected for a match but whilst still showing them on the match card as part of the team.

6. Results Competition Manager email

We have a new option in the setup of the competition that if enabled allows HOCKIO to send an email the day after any match for that competition showing the results and any disputes / non entered results. This is a quick way for the competition manager to know what needs to be followed up for that competition if anything without having to go through the matches screen in HOCKIO.

7. Competition Turf Slots

Also on the competition setup menu option, there is a “Turf Slots” option. When you enter these turf slots that are required for the competition, they are used in the Draw Generation section, but also used on the Calendar to block that turf time from being booked. This is valuable when you want to block out turf slots for the next few competition rounds before the draws are done.

If you set this up with your competitions at the start of the year, it will show in your booking calendar that the time slot is used. Once you have done the draw, these dates will be hidden from the booking calendar and replaced with the actual matches.

8. Minor bug fixes.

HOCKIO Minor Bug Fixes.

  1. Copy/Move team option now copies the team management, uniform and other information to the new competition, not just the player information now.
  2. The registration wizard for both Club/School and Team on some browsers caused un-usable characters at the end of the team names. This caused issues when trying to manually assign teams to matches or teams to Clubs. This has been resolved and datafix applied to resolve any existing data
  3. Feeder team drop down selection now shows Competition – Team Name, this is because when teams are in many Competitions / Rounds, it was hard to tell which team needed to be the feeder team
